People cannot stop themselves from praising themselves after tasting this sweet. The name of this sweet is Membrane.
This sweet is made in Laheri locality located at Bihar Sharif headquarter of Nalanda. Where there are a dozen shops of sweets made from brown, in which dozens of artisans work and the family is earning their livelihood. Membrane is very famous not only in the district, but also in different cities of the country for its unique sweetness with sweet fragrance.
Membrane is prepared from Sattu
Artisan Indu Kumar said that to make the membrane, first flour, chickpea sattu (powder) and gram flour are mixed in hot water, cut into long pieces of a finger and fried in refined oil. After this it is dried and later the jaggery is melted and its syrup is made. A little sweet soda is also mixed in it. After that cucumber is mixed in sugar syrup and dried again. After this it becomes ready to be sold in the market. People eat very fondly. Along with taste, membrane is also a panacea for health. The membrane helps in cleaning the blood. There are other advantages too mate.
Membrane is sold at Rs 80 per kg
Shopkeeper Nitish Kumar told about the membrane that this sweet has been being made here for years. Ancestors also used to make membranes and sell them. Now engaged in business himself. This sweet made from brown was made only in Nalanda, but now it has started in other districts as well. Earlier there were 3 shops here, but now there are about a dozen. Its high demand is in the winter season. By the way, it is sold throughout the year.
In season it sells 70 to 100 kg a day, while in off season it sells 20 to 30 kg. Its price is Rs.80 per kg, while it is sold in bulk at Rs.70 per kg. One and a half quintal membrane is made everyday in off season. Shopkeepers and retailers in rural areas carry it. 5 to 7 artisans work in this shop.
